Rt 30 Red-Light Truck Crash Kills Ephrata Woman: York County Coroner

A 55-year-old Ephrata woman died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in York County County on Saturday, Jan. 7, according to a release by the coroner's office.

Mary P. Escobar of the 100 block of Ashley Drive, hit the back of a truck's tractor (no trailer was hitched on at the time) when she excleated as it was stopped in front t of her for a red light in the eastbound lane on Route 30 near North Hills Road in Springettsbury Township at 8:15 p.m., as detailed by the coroner's officer. 

Witnesses at the scene told authorities they saw Escobar accelerate her vehicle just before the deadly crash. 

Her airbags did deploy, but she was declared at 8:58 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Onalee Gilbert and Supervising Deputy Coroner Jacob Clevenger. 

There won't be an autopsy, but a routine toxicology test was performed.

Mary was born in Bristol, Vermont on Aug. 4, 1967. She attended Edgewood High School and was a devout Christian. She regularly attended religious meetings in Baltimore, according to her social media. She is survived by family including her beloved children and grandchildren. 

Memorial service details have yet to be released.
